I'm auditioning Monday for a school play. Any tips or advice? improvisation?

I'm an eighth grader. I got the lead last year but this year is different. We are reading from a monologue so it should be really good. Last year it was cold reading. We also have to do an improvisation which is different and i'm not so good at it. Any tips?I'm auditioning Monday for a school play. Any tips or advice? improvisation?
Be yourself, speak loudly and clearly. Act natural with your body motions. Just really get into the monologue. Pretend that you are that character, get inside their head. Also, maybe fifteen minutes before the audition, rehearse the monologue, try out different moods and characters that you think fit the monologue. Figure out who you want to be saying this monologue. With the improv, do the same thing. Whatever the director tells you, just react as if you were a certain character. Like, if you were a ballerina with emotional distress, how would you react to getting kicked off the ballet team? (bad example, too tired to be creative. :P) Just relax and don't fret. If you don't get in the play this year, there's always four more years of high school and the rest of your life after that. Break a leg!!!!I'm auditioning Monday for a school play. Any tips or advice? improvisation?
Well i auditioned for highschool musical and i made it.It was very pressuring because you had 100 other people auditiong for the same part.Just be yourself,be funny, and if you mess up.get back up and keep on moviing

Let me try to throw out some pointers to ya. If the monologue has to be memorized then just go in as well prepared as possible. Meaning, have it prepared as if it was an opening night of a show. If you just have to read it, then ask if you may have some time to read over the monologue. This is typical, to ask for time, if you don't get the material before the audition. Take a couple of minutes to read over it, don't memorize it, but just get familiar with. With this you will be able to keep eye contact with a partner or just keep your eyes out of the script so you can be seen.

As far as improv goes it depends on what you have to do. But for a general introduction I would say just stay true to the character you develope. If you are given the suggestion of being a bear, then you might walk slower and make your voice deeper. The main thing is make a choice!!!! Because if you go for something and it doesn't work the crowd it will look worse if you try to change what you are doing. Another thing is build off of things you already know. If the suggestion is a crazy old person, then you might say well that sounds like the old cat lady down the road. So you build a scene by being that lady, because you have seen her and you know what she is like. If you want to further educate yourself in improv I would check out the book Truth in Comedy. It helped me out a lot.

Last thing, MAKE SURE THEY CAN HEAR YOU! Be seen and Be heard and you will be fine. Go Luck!
improv isn't that hard, just go over your line and practice what your gonna say or what you might say, make sure you breath too, it can get pretty scary up there so don't forget to breath, when its all done you'll be OK, its like getting a shot, your scared before you get it but after, it wasn't that big of a deal.

I wanna go on a 2 week holiday 2 Vietnam, any tips, advice or useful websites?

How adventurous are you ? are you traveling alone ? . Don't let the traveling alone bit put you of at all as i found Vietnam the safest country in SE Asia for a woman to travel(the only hassle you get is westerners). The cheapest and best way to travel is to get a flight only and i would suggest to Saigon . Before you go have a good read up on the place i suggest ';The Rough Guide To Vietnam'; %26amp; ';The Lonely Planet'; the rough guide i find better, and have a look what it says and what appeals to you.

You have to stay in Saigon for at least 3 days to get all the place's of interest in plus the trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels . Then make your choice about which beach , the Best is Mui Nei (phan thiet) about 4 hours cheap taxi drive . Or you could go to Nha Trang by a short cheap flight or the excellent and cheap train journey . Hotels are so cheap you are better off turning up at the door . First time visitor i think Nha Trang may be better as there are more things to do and places close to see . Travel light as you will see so much to buy you will feel sick that you can not carry it home(clothes are so cheap and good quality) . A few ideas there , i also recommend Hoi An and Hue .

Have a great time you will not want to come homeI wanna go on a 2 week holiday 2 Vietnam, any tips, advice or useful websites?

Any tips or advice on how to draw?

Im 11 years old and i loved drawing since i was 4. I love drawing and doing alll that art stuff but the problem is that im not good at it! Please, i really need some help. Does anyone have any art tips or advice for me? thanks a lot. oh and forget about saying that i should take classes cause' i know i should already but my parents wont let me. Ok, thanks again.Any tips or advice on how to draw?
If you have ever looked inside of a book of ';how to draw'; instructions, you will notice that they start out the exercises by having you draw the various shapes that go together to form an image. Here is a link. I know that it isn't that interesting but it shows what I am talking about.

http://webkinzworld101.files.wordpress.c鈥?/a>

When you draw you have to look for recognizable shapes and draw them. They may not all be exact circles, squares, triangles. But look for any shape that you see and can draw. Draw lightly at first so that once you have all of the shapes drawn in you can cleanly erase all of the unnecessary lines.

Google,';How to draw'; using Google images for more step-by-step examples of this,And there are more interesting examples than the one I gave you. I selected something simple to use as an explanation. And it takes practice, you are training your eye and hand to work together. Learn to draw from observation. Draw different things Copying can lead to only being good at what you' regularly copy.

Here is a tip: If something in your drawing looks really out of wack but you can't quite tell what's wrong.turn the drawing upside down and look at it.. The part that is out of wack should get your attention pretty quick and you may see what is needed to correct it.Any tips or advice on how to draw?
There a a ton of first, second and advanced level books in your library plus take you time when drawing. The best thing that helps me draw is to draw it several time. Then I can get the rhythm of things. Try looking at something and drawing it. Like your computer screen, or living room. These are called photo realism pictures. They will help you take the picture from your eyes, to your head, to your hand.

or take a coloring book and try copying the pictures in there. The coloring book will not be that detailed but you can still learn a ton.

Good luck.
Drawing on The Right Side of the Brain, by Betty Edwards, is a book that will REALLY help your skills improve. It's like a drawing course in a book, and is good for any age. Good luck!
Draw what you see, draw a lot and you'll start getting better. And learn to use shading. If you don't use shading your drawings will look like crap.
I have a blog and some tutorials, maybe they will help:

http://www.mikemalaska.com/tutorials.htm鈥?/a>
There are a lot of approaches you can take to drawing what you want. For instance, if you look at a chair you can try to draw the shape of the negative spaces, such as what you see between two of the legs. If you want to draw a tree first look at the proportions of leaf masses to trunk, and of the masses of leaves to each other. Then look at the silhouette of the tree, the dark and light values, and the textures.

In drawing a human there is more than one way to get to where you want to go. Some artists use projectors, and some use tracing paper. A book on drawing might tell you that if you want to draw a portrait then start by drawing a slightly egg shaped oval, divide it up with lines according to the proportions, and then to gradually erase a re-draw each part to make it look more like your subject. Then you render the values areas and textures. This method is kind of working from the outside in, like the tree I described above. However this approach involves a lot of erasing , and the more you erase the more damage you might do to your paper, and a lot of erasing limits what you can do in drawing on top of a colored background, and so on. Some people will literally erase a hole in their drawing paper.

Another approach is to draw from the inside out. Choose a sharp photo of a face where you can see the eyes clearly. If you look at the inside corners of the eyes examine the negative space in between them. If you print out your picture on plain paper you can put a dot there at the eye comers with a pen. Now if you look directly below those two dots you can put two more dots at the bottom sides of the nose by the nostrils. What those four dots picture is the four corners of a rectangle where it is a little longer than it is wide. The ratio is usually about 3 wide to 4 long. From there you can look at the proportions outward, put dots there and connect them up. The distance from the inside corners of the eyes to the outside corners of the eyes is similar to the distance between the two inside corners. Put dots at the beginning and end of the eyebrows and at the top of the peak. So put dots there. Put a dot at the bottom center of the nose. The distance to the mouth line from the bottom of the nose is about half of the length of the nose. The distance from the mouth line to the bottom of the chin is about the same as the length of the nose. Now look at the shape of the chin, the shape of the jaw line, the hair line, where the bottom and top of the ears come to compared to the rest of the face. You might notice that on a pretty, well proportioned face the distance from the chin to the bottom of the nose, from there to the eyebrows, and from the eyebrows to the hair line, is about the same, If the face is level in relation to you.

You can draw anything you want from any photo printed out on plain paper by the following method. Draw as large a square as you can on the photograph. Then connect the corners with an X . Use the center of the X to divide it up into four squares, and draw X's to connect their corners. When you have a number of squares you line up their centers and continue the pattern outside of the original square to cover the whole picture. You can grid it a little smaller in areas where you need more detail like the face and hands and grid it larger in areas where there is less detail. You can also put a dot on the most important points where you have to be precise, like the corners of the eyes and the edges of the irises. Then measure the dots from the nearest grid corner. The eyes are the single most important part of any portrait where they appear. Then draw the same grid pattern lightly, and I mean lightly, on the drawing paper to whatever size you need. It may help to label the the rows and columns with letters and numbers respectively to help keep it straight. Then just draw what you see from one triangle area to the other. You need to carefully erase the grid before you get too far . Then when you get the basics drawn why not go back to your reference picture and draw contour lines around the different value areas on the face, in the hair, and so forth. Then work on putting in the value areas in your picture with pencils with h leads (hard) for light areas, and b leads (soft) for dark areas. The ebony pencil is best for the darkest areas. You can use paper stomps, tissues, artist's chamois, and your fingers to smooth out the transition areas or little value patches. Be sure and wash your hands often with a degreaser like Dawn to keep oil of the paper. Use a soft white eraser to make little changes, and you can use ink too if you want on black areas, but be careful not to do it in large areas or the difference will be obvious.

I use mechanical pencils to start with and then add more pencils later. The most common beginner mistake is to try and draw the hair as individual strands instead of looking for patterns and texture. Also draw everything lightly and then darken it later, you don't want your lines to show in your final drawing. Here is a drawing I did of Alyson Michalka:

And here is the best explanation on the net on how to draw hair:

Any tips/secrets or advice for a weekend in Vegas?

A few buddies and I are going to Vegas in July... Any tips or ideas of how we can take advantage of what Vegas has to offer over the 2 days we are there? Any ways to get the hook up with cheap stuff or freebies?Any tips/secrets or advice for a weekend in Vegas?
90 percent of tourists who come here don't have anything more planned than their hotel rooms, so do some research and make arrangements ahead of time.

If you can, make your trip midweek instead of the weekend. The nightclubs and shows are more eager to get customers then and you'll find much better deals (and your rooms will be way cheaper, too).

Don't count on getting comps or other favors. Be polite and patient to the staff you meet and tip well, and try and chat them up for advice. You never know; the bartender who gets you your beer at 2 p.m. might be best friends with the guy who works the door at the hottest club in town. Make a good impression and you might get on the guest list.

For nightclubs, failing that advice, see if you can befriend some girls while waiting in line. Girls are let in before guys and if you're nice, they might let you tag along. When inside, buy them a round as thanks.Any tips/secrets or advice for a weekend in Vegas?
http://cheapvegasclubs.com/ can get you a few good shows for 70% off and into any of the nightclubs realllyyy cheap. I use them all the time. If your interested in strip clubs they also have a $5 pass that gets you free limo service, entry into 12 clubs and free drinks.
Here are a few Vegas money saving tips. You will be amazed how much you can save if you know what you are doing.

Has anyone any tips or advice on scrapbook making?

I keep thinking of compiling a scrapbook......I thought I would start this year. A complete beginner........how do I start?? Is there a special book? ( all sorts of daft questions when you do not know anything about a subject........ )Has anyone any tips or advice on scrapbook making?
All the above answers are good. In addition check out the crafts/hobbies section in your local library. They will almost certainly have some books on scrapbooking/memory albums. This will cost you nothing whereas the monthly magazines or buying books can be quite expensive.

Try asking round all your friends, workmates and family. This hobby is so popular now that it is likely someone you know is already doing it and will be able to give you some help. Many scrapbookers form groups as this helps with advice, swapping items and sharing the more expensive equipment as well as socialising.

Sign up for an evening class or one day workshop. A course can be expensive but usually quite a lot of material and use of equipment is included in the fee and it is a good way to learn different techniques and steal other student's ideas.

Go to a show such as one of the Hobbycraft fairs held all over the country or to one of the Thorpe Park shows.

Do go for it. Scrapbooking is one of the most enjoyable hobbies. I love trying to track down just the right embellishments to enhance my photos. The finished album(s) are far superior to traditional photo albums and people will not be bored when you bring them out to show even if they are not interested in the subjects of your photos. Finally you have produced a heritage piece that will be treasured down the generations in your family.

I bought a kit from qvcuk.com which had a smaller size scrapbook (8'; x 8';) and loads of co-ordinating papers and embellishments. It cost approx. 拢20 inc. postage. It was a better size to start with, not too daunting and i made a lovely book for my parents 40th anniversary. They loved it and i have to say for my 1st attempt i was pretty pleased myself. Good luck with your new hobby, you'll love it once you get started.
when i first done scrapbooking i bought a kit it was a small album 6x6 for 拢7.00 but i didnt wanted anything too big, so i done a album all about my dog andy, and i bought alot of bits and bobs before hand, and i loved it, the best idea would be to buy a kit if you can, or have a look on ebay as they have loads of craft items for cheap, and sign up with a scapbooking group on yahoo or hotmail, and they can help answer any of those questions, and maybe give you some tips, i am with a few craft groups on yahoo, and now i am a owner with 4 yahoo groups myself.
I got my first set from QVC and it was fantastic value, There are several good magazines out to. My favourite is Scrapbook Inspirations, The sell it in WH Smiths, It has loads of good ideas to get you started. Beware though IT IS ADDICTIVE and quited expensive hobby!!!
i went to a class that was FREE at the craft shop in our town . they helped me out a lot , now I'm crazy about it . try a craft shop , if not there are magazines that will help you . good luck on you scraping . once you start you won't be able to stop !
Ok. Start by buying a photo storage box. Organize your pictures by catergory. Then go to a craft store and find acid free lignen free paper the size of your scrapbook. (12x12, 8x8) Then pick up any stickers that you see and like. You can buy scrapbooking books with layouts or take a class for ideas. You can fit about one picture a page in a 8x8 scrapbook and about 4 on a 12x12 scrapbook. Be sure to always buy acid free and lignen free products. If you don't over time your pictures and pages will get damaged. Some scrapbooking esentials are:

Paper

Scrapbook

Adhesive double stick photo squares

stickers

a straight cutter

You can buy these at any craft store. I like Archivers, Hobby Lobby, and Michaels. Archivers has some of the best classes.

To start make sure to lay out your photos on the page with a colorful background paper behind it. It looks good to mat a picture by cutting out a rectangle a little bit bigger than the picture. Also remember to JOURNAL! Journaling is writing about the pictures and memories. You would hate to spend all of the time on the books and in years not knowing what the pictures are of. I would suggest attending a free class at an Archivers near you or look at layouts on a website.

  • Will I be Pregnant? Is thee any problem with me Plz everyone respond to my question with any advice or tips?

Hi am ttc from 3 months...I went to my doctor for planning pregnancy...She did some test by sending radiations to open the tubes...Me and My mother were worrying what the problem is...Doctor said that now the tubes are open....Is this common with everyone....will I be pregnant......It will be very kind of you if u help us...Will I be Pregnant? Is thee any problem with me Plz everyone respond to my question with any advice or tips?
    Hi!

If your tubes are open, this means that the egg can travel down during ovulation and be fertilised.

    This is great news.

I am currently 9 1/2 weeks pregnant and only have one tube remaining due to a previous ectopic pregnancy. To have 2 tubes would be a blessing for me!

Was the test to check if the tubes were open, or to reopen closed tubes?

Either way, if they are open, they are open, and you should be able to get pregnant.

Good luck! Will I be Pregnant? Is thee any problem with me Plz everyone respond to my question with any advice or tips?
So did you have closed or blocked tubes? I have never heard of radiation to fix that i have heard of them injecting a dye to see if they are blocked and somtimes that alone opens the tube up. Um i'd say 3 month is'nt that lond to be trying i have been trying for 8 months and the dr says that if you h been trying for over 6 month then you have something wrong i myself have PCOS. I hope you are fixed dear and you get your BFP soon Good luck and babydust!1!!!!!
Hello. I have heard that by opening up the tubes alittle does help. I would not worry about this too much. Now you need to do your part. Make sure you are taking good care of yourself and have lots of sex. THe rule of thumb that alot of people have told me is to try to BD every other day. Since we never really know when ovulation is going to happen, it's better safe then sorry.

There are tons of ways to watch and track ovulation. And I'm sure that you are aware of them.

Like I said, have lots of sex. Sperm can live for up to 72 hours (3 days) and an egg can usually last up to 24 hours. SO by always having some little swimmers there will better your chances.

    Best of luck!!!!

    * Without depressing you....I want to share my story. My husband and I both have seen the doctor and we both are perfectly fine in the baby making department. We are now going on 11 months of TTC. I have no idea what is taking us so long. With our daughter it happened the very first month. TTC is not easy and it's impossible to explain how our bodies work. Just hang in there and it will happen.
This is my 3rd month TTC too and my doctor also clear my tubes, I am not sure how fast this can make us pregnant but I know it will help.

    baby dust to you
