I've been looking for a job for 2months now without any luck. Any good advice or tips?

I worked in a semiconductor fab for 7years then have to give it up to follow my husband to US. I wonder whether the origin of my education and foreign work experience is a minus. Or whether the unemployed duration for almost a year is minus too cause I just got my permanent resident status. I feel so depressed and restless without any job.I've been looking for a job for 2months now without any luck. Any good advice or tips?
You have marketable skills, you say you're from out of the country, so do you speak another language? Put it on your resume! Look in markets where being bilingual will be a major bonus, like places such as New York, Seattle, or Dallas. Find jobs that say they're willing to train, even though you know your career field this will show you're willing to work your way up. Post your resume on www.monster.com and other like sites, and put in your cover letter that you have your residence status and wanted to wait to get that before starting a new job so that you never had to worry about being forced to leave a company. Show a desire to be loyal. You'll be fine! Keep it up, I know you'll find a great job soon!I've been looking for a job for 2months now without any luck. Any good advice or tips?
Just keep at it, hard to say if you are doing anything wrong as you didn't really say waht you are doing.

In the mean time find something else to occupy you. Another job (anything is fine, just something to do until you get something in your field) or even a hobby or something if money is not a big issue (lucky you). And don't feel bad, 2 months is not long compared to how long some people have to look.
While have tried a job with training requirement. For instance wal-mart or department stores.
Depending on where you live you should search out other manufacturing facilities. You don't mention if you worked in assembly or in an admin position for your previous employment. However, the aerospace industry is booming right now and I know that good production workers are in high demand. However that is here in Southern CA. On your resume accentuate your experience as that is your biggest plus and definitely quantify your accomplishments as opposeed to qualifying them (able to complete X amount of blah blah blah in X amount of time as opposed to proficient in completing blah blah blah) make sense? Additionally, post your resume to job websites such as careerbuilder.com or monster.com... at the very least they will show you what types of jobs are in demand in the area... and typically recruiters will call you if your resume matches certain criteria. In my experience foreign education is not a negative... and resident status is a definite plus. Don't dwell on how long you've been out of work as it sounds like big changes have occured in the last year in a move from a foreign country. Unfortunately you will be starting lower on the ladder than you previously were, but that is to be expected.
try major departement stores like:

macy

sears

jc penney

nordstrom

bloomingdales

target

walmart

or home depod I heard they pay good

furniture stores

all these dont really ask for much to work there so just fill as many as you can to see what you get

it is a good idea to post a resume online like on monster.com

that is how my boyfriend found 2 good jobs.

good luck
Have you ever considered starting a little business of your own working from home for awhile....then if you find a fulltime job you can still continue to build your home business part time....
