After my pup gets fixed tomorrow, when she comes home...well, do you have any tips, advice, etc?

When my dog got neautered I kept a really good eye on him. Don't let him run around and play so much for maybe the first 5 days...

make sure to keep the cone on the head because dogs love to lick the wounds and it sounds like you have a female so her wound is going to be a little bit more painful.

For the first night do not feed him or let him drink any water...

maybe a TINY bowl of water...but nothing dramatic or what she usually drinks.

Try not to let her jump up on the couch if she ever does, or like I said run and play.

if you have any other animals keep them AWAY from her for the first few days... until you can tell she is getting better.

I would suggest for tonight putting her somewhere she isn't bothered by noise or light because she'll probably be on pain killers...and she will be feeling them for a few more hours and will either be very tired or normal.

either way, try to have her get some rest alone in a room or with you on the couch.

Give her lots of love because she probably doesnt know why she'll be in pain and she'll be very confused.

Remember:

If you don't have a cone for her head...GET ONE.

and leave it on for 10 days.

After the 10 days look at the wound and make sure the stitches are gone...if it still looks swollen or anything leave the cone on.

if the stitches and wound haven't healed up call your doctor.

Good luck :)

Thank you for being a good person and getting your dog fixed :)After my pup gets fixed tomorrow, when she comes home...well, do you have any tips, advice, etc?
Keep her on a leash when she is out of her crate so that she doesn't jump from a height. Feed her lightly for a few days since a full belly is not the best medicine. If you must give her pain medicine at home, try to keep it to a bare minimum as pup won't feel the pain that she is causing herself. Walking pup on a leash is good exercise as long as you keep it short. After my pup gets fixed tomorrow, when she comes home...well, do you have any tips, advice, etc?
Let her rest. Some dogs sleep, others may be whiny or cry or a little drunken - it's a side effect of anesthesia wearing off. She may not want to eat or drink much for the first 24 hours.

Within 24 hours, your dog should be getting back to normal. Watch the incision to make sure there is no redness or swelling and make sure she leaves the sutures alone. Also no baths or vigorous exercise until the sutures come out.
just watch her. make sure she doesnt go after the stitches or anything. also, dont let her run around like crazy, though i dont think she'll feel like it. but just in case. go out side with her and dont leave her alone outside at all so she doesnt rip any stitching. other than that, let her rest and she should be fine.
she will be extremely thirsty as they will not have given her water for so many hours after surgery so the anesthesia can wear off safely so let her have small amounts of water a little at a time and the same with food, other than that let her sleep, give her pain meds if she needs them and you can sooth her by washing her face with a cool cloth if she lets you. some dogs love it others hate it.
keep the dog from licking themselve down there for a couple of days. don't let the dog jump around a lot so blood does not flow to much down there and an infection starts. you would be best if you could keep the dog from standing on two feet. keep them on all 4, if they do start licking down their it would be best if you get something around the neck so they cannot reach down their. good luck
Keep him calm, and in-active for up to a week. I know, this sounds ridicules, but that is what you must do. Unless you want another visit to the vet, or maybe the emergency vet. They are not cheap.
She will probably want to be left alone, and also be tired from the medicine.
well she will be tiered and not her self make a soft bed and just try not to let her jump comfort her and make her happy
